CFTI is a government-owned transshipment facility with modern cooling, freezing, ice-making and storage facilities. CFTI provides complete support for long-liners transshipping their catch to Japan. The government is interested in privatizing CFTI. We are seeking companies with experience in the fishing industry who can own and run the transshipment facility, possibly in conjunction with a long-lining fleet or value-added processing operation

Tuna Cannery Opportunity

The FSM has duty-free access for tuna to the US market under an agreement with the US Numerous purse seine boats fish the FSM waters. These could support a local cannery. Chuuk state has dock-side facilities available for the installation of a tuna cannery We are seeking companies which can build, own and operate a cannery

Aquaculture

The Chuuk Lagoon has substantial opportunity for sustainable lagoon-based aquaculture Sponges, giant and regular clams, aquarium fish, and fish farming are among the possibilities We are seeking groups with experience in lagoon-based aquaculture to help develop this resource

The FSM has quota-free access to the US market for all garment categories Chuuk state has a large work force which could support the garment industry We are seeking companies which can build, own, and operate garment plants

Chuuk Coconut Processing Plant

This is a government-owned business producing small quantities of coconut products, including soap, shampoo, and coconut oils The government is interested in privatizing or selling the plant We are seeking investors able to own and operate the plant and market the products in the FSM and throughout the region
